Gobs of expectations for Red Arrow boys’ tennis

From one to 10 it may very well be the best boys tennis team Bonnie and Roger Wall have coached during their 14 years at Lowell.

“I’m excited about this boys’ team. We’re young , strong and they all can play,” Wall says.

The Lowell coach is most pleased with what she’s seen from the doubles teams.

“Our doubles teams are much stronger than a year ago. All of our doubles players have sound strokes,” Wall explained.

The number one doubles flight will be filled by juniors Mikah Babcock and Tony Hanson.

Sophomores Quinn Summerfield and Parker Groom will play second doubles while Paul Heemstra and Zach Fotis will fill the third doubles spot.

Junior Christian Huisman and sophomore Keaton Pomper have been penciled in at number four doubles.

Lowell’s top singles players one through four are Connor Smith, Austin Pix, Dan Cowden and Christian Kloosterman.

I have an idea as to how we will be,” Wall said. “I’m excited about the team and I’m expecting gobs,” said Wall, followed by a chuckle.

The League will once again be top heavy with the likes of powerhouses East Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Christian. A strong Northview club will also be tough in 2011.

“We’re working on a top three finish. I think it’s a possibility,” Wall concluded.
