Timmer and Nausieda lead Lowell’s pursuit of first title

Entering her 10th season as the Lowell girls varsity volleyball coach Gigi Peal is sure of a couple of things:

1. Her Red Arrows will be one of the top three teams vying for an O-K White Conference Championship in 2011.

2. And she will have, arguably, the league’s best volleyball player lacing it up for the Red Arrows.

“We lose eight players from last year, however, we have conference’s best setter and best libero returning,” Peal explained. “That’s a pretty good start and I’m glad  they are both on my side of the court.”

Jordan Timmer, Lowell’s Central Michigan bound setter, returns for her final season. The senior has averaged x assists over her first three years.

Stat on Arielle Nausieda

Playing alongside Timmer and Nausieda will be role players Stephanie Stevens, Abbie Petroelje, Hannah Tawney and Aubrey Steed.

Stevens is a outside hitter with a defensive specialists mentality. Petroelje will line up as a outside hitter while Tawney and Steed will be looked to fill some void at the middle hitter position.

“I have a roster of all team players. There’s no attitude,” Peal said. “Our strengths will  be defense and setting. While our defense is good, it will get better.

Peal said the girls have played quite a bit this summer and she was happy with what she saw.
